Colored Pencil
12 x 9 in
Framed dimensions - 17×14
Matted and framed under acrylic in brown frame
Between the Shores holds a quiet, steady stillness, the kind that settles in when everything unnecessary falls away. A single red canoe rests between land and reflection, suspended in that gentle in-between space where movement pauses and time softens. The boldness of the red draws your eye first, but it's the calm around it that keeps you there.
Delicate shifts in value and texture create a sense of depth without disrupting the serenity. The water mirrors just enough to blur the boundary between what is real and what is remembered, while the surrounding forms frame the canoe like a quiet breath held in place.
There's balance here -- between presence and absence, energy and rest. This piece invites you to slow down and sit in that middle space. Not arriving, not leaving, just being. It's a moment of pause, of reflection, and of quiet strength, where even the simplest subject feels grounded and full.
